FC Dynamo

The origins of the team date back to the ’96-’97 season, and a group of guys coming together with a bond of eventually travelling to France for World Cup ’98.  The team played under the name of Beaverton FC in the 3rd division.  The team joined the ranks of “Sam’s Army” at then Civic Stadium for the World Cup qualifier against Cost Rica, where Tab Ramos scored the goal on a shot heard “around the World.”

For the ’97-’98  season, the team split, and a new team emerged, FC Fuss.  This was made up of local athletes, and some Pacific University alumni.  The commonality, is that most had come together through Saturday pick-up soccer at Lake Oswego Junior High. As one can imagine, much flack was received from the team name.

The next season ’98-’99 the team name was changed.  The team moved from the 3rd to the 2nd division.  After some thought, and a few beers at Horsebrass Pub, it was decided to change the team name to Dynamo Rose City FC.

After the ’98-’99 season, the team moved up again from 2nd to 1st Division.

The roster changed periodically, as people moved with jobs, but the core team stayed together through at least the ’02-’03 season.  A couple of players from that era remain involved with the team, but it has undergone a transformation in recent years.

The name shortened to FC Dynamo over the years, and since 2008, FC Dynamo has made it to the Championship game of GPSD Division I four times, winning the title in the Spring 2011.  In the winter of 2012, the team saw an opportunity to join the Timbers Army FC initiative to help expand the group’s reach around the Portland area. FC Dynamo wears red kits to honor the Dynamo Rose City name and our proudly sponsored by BARISTA.
