A Special Note About Sunday

Sunday represents a huge day for Portland and the Timbers. The upcoming match against the Seattle Sounders will be the biggest and most intense event to happen at Jeld-Wen Field to date this season. We want everyone to know that the expectation is there to show up, sing, and participate fully on Sunday as well as have a good time doing so.

In order to make sure the day goes without problems the 107ist leadership does have expectations. Please do not bring any Seattle supporters into the Timbers Army section even if they are your friend/brother/uncle/cousin/etc. The Timbers Army section is for Timbers supporters and away fans have their own section reserved for them. This is the case for every game, but it needs to be emphasized for this match in particular and understood that it will be enforced and Seattle supporters will be redirected to the away supporters section.

Please refrain from interacting with any Seattle supporters in and around Jeld-Wen Field. We realize everyone will be up for this match, but we mustn’t let emotions get the best of us. Direct your emotions in the form of support for the Timbers. Act accordingly in this regard and please make sure to spread the word amongst your friends and fellow supporters to ignore all Seattle supporters.

As many of you know the Timbers Army polices its own section and values the trust the Timbers front office has placed in us to do so. This is a privilege that is not taken lightly. Follow the code of conduct in the Guest Guide for Jeld-Wen Field and realize that not following the code puts you at risk of being ejected from the match on Sunday, receiving a multiple match ban, or a permanent ban from the stadium in addition to being banned from all organized 107ist away travel trips and all Timbers Army organized events.

Please enjoy yourself on Sunday. Support the boys on the pitch with everything you have and let’s all work together to make sure this is a memorable day for all of the right reasons.

Can I bring my brother? He is from Seattle, and a Sounders fan, but he is really cool. Let me know. I don’t want it to be weird.

    • Dominic says:

You can bring your brother, but he has to sit with the Seattle supporters. That is, unless, he wants to change allegiance and join the Timbers Army to begin rooting for the Timbers. In that case, he must burn all of his Sounders gear, wear the green/gold/white and then he is welcome. :)

    • Joanne Couchman says:

      From the above post…

Please do not bring any Seattle supporters into the Timbers Army section even if they are your friend/brother/uncle/cousin/etc.

The Timbers Army section is for Timbers supporters and away fans have their own section reserved for them. Seattle supporters will be redirected to the away supporters section.

    • Ryan Pollard says:

There’s really no way your brother will have an enjoyable time in the TA section if he’s kitted out in flounder gear and/or cheering for the opposing side. If you don’t do it for us or in the name of common decency, at least do him a favor and put him with his own kind.

      • Chelsea says:

If you want to sit with him so damn bad then you can go sit with the Seattle fans. Bringing a fan from another team into the TA like that is a huge slap in the face to the TA.

        • Paul says:

Nope, we don’t want the Timbers fan in the Seattle Section, that’s just as big an insult as a Seattle person being in the TA section.

The original commenter needs to simply accept that if you’re in the supporters section of either club, you need to be a supporter of THAT club, and if you wanna watch the game together, you need to sit with the other prawn-sandwich-eating folks in non-supporters sections.

That’s pretty much universal when it comes to Supporter Groups.

  2. Andrew Brawley says:

One of my best friends is coming down from Seattle with his Sounders brood, and even he knows not to even try to sit with me in the TA section. Even if he could, he’s wise enough to know better. We’re best pals, but we also wish the other to rot in hell for the duration of the match. Afterward, it’s back to normal.

It won’t kill anyone to be apart for a couple hours.

  3. TMJ says:

Ok, but his ticket is for the Timber’s Army section. Joanne Couchman, Please Advise.

    • Garrett Dittfurth says:

Away supporters with Timbers Army seats will be relocated to the away supporters section. If there is no room there they will likely be removed from the stadium. This is the same way it was handled in Seattle.

      • pdxhusky says:

No timbers fan with a paid ticket was removed from Qwest stadium. That is simply a guess or fabrication. If I am removed I will be demanding refund.

        • Joanne Couchman says:

That’s because there was room for those that needed moving, it only becomes an issue if the ‘amnesty area’ gets full. It’s actually part of the Cascadia travel agreement which all 3 teams have to abide by.

  4. TMJ says:

Understood. Don’t wear Sounders gear in Army section. I will tell him to wear neutral clothing. Or maybe just a hat. Nothing crazy.

  5. Juan Farias says:

@ TMJ, I don’t know how much clearer it can be put for you (perhaps your just a troll, either way). NO FLOUNDERS IN THE TA!!!! You are creating a recipe for disaster if you do this. If you still decide to bring a sounder into the TA he/she better not wear anything sounders or even show any sort of excitement towards the sounders. Best let them enjoy the match with similarly distasteful people in the away section.

  6. skywaker9 says:

Will the away fans be totally segregated like they are in Europe? I only ask because I’m not with the TA on Sunday but am just a section or two over from the Flounders fans. I’m not going to cause any trouble of course but am just wondering.

  7. Chelsea says:

So stoked for this game. I have the best boss in the entire world. I work that day and she knows how much I LOVE the Timbers so she is letting me off early. Bringing a Sounder fan into the TA is a huge slap in the face of your brothers and sisters. Love your friends and family from different sections or go join the visiting section. We cannot control what their fans do, but we sure as hell can and will control what our sections does. LETS GO BOYS! RCTID.

  8. Tim Morse says:

Hey, Im suprising my dad with a ticket into the Timbers Army… we live in Medford and he love the Timbers. I have one question. Being that its a general admission seat how early should we show up to the stadium to get a good seat? By good i mean at least in the lower sections of general admission. THANKS!

  9. Victor says:

There has been a few minor incidents during this rivalry, Let”s be smart people follow the TA guidelines and hopefully the other side will follow their guidelines also. That being said, can you get arrested for exposing your bare ass to there rooting section during the game??

  10. Sam says:

Since we are being so thorough about keeping Sounders fans out of TA, please also do your best to redirect drunk/belligerent fat women slapping my dad in the face with a beer soaked flag away from the section. As a true Portlander and Timbers fan, I am loving my half season tickets in section 106, but can’t say the same regarding belligerent idiots that are more interested in getting sloshed and stumbling around than supporting their team. Atleast try to keep your beer in the cup… I understand TA isn’t for kindergartners, but let’s keep things classy in TA. RCTID!

  11. Ryan says:

Out of curiosity, is there a formal agreement between the TA, and the Seattle Sounders Fan Group (which would actually be a better name than the awful one they chose) regarding supporters’ seating?

  13. Shelli Whitmarsh says:

    to Tim Morse:
Hey, Tim, I don’t know how old/enthusiastic your Dad is but be aware if you are in the lower bowl of TA, he will be standing the whole game. If that doesn’t sound like his cup of tea, I would try to grab seats in the first row of the upper section. (Still loud and proud in that area!)

  14. Dangus says:

    TMJ=Troll

No one is gonna pay the 150 bucks it takes to get a craigslist ticket to bring a seattle fan

  15. BelfastLadd says:

Let’s always remember, 1st and Foremost – The Ladd’s on either side of the pitch are to be respected and appluaded. By Ye’ a Sounder Supporter or one of are own Timber’s best chanter’s. Make sure you are a hearty hail fellow to all supporters. I come from a land , far away and depply troubled where brothers and sisters where divided as supporters of factions more serious than the Ladd’s of the Pitch. Embrace supporters , Cheer supporters , And Honor Supoorters!!!!!!

  16. Glen Zariczny says:

As a member of the ECS I have to ask TMJ, if your brother is such a huge Sounders fan why the eff does he want to sit with the TA anyways?
